Local hero Jeremy Seewer and his rivals provided a thrilling racing action.
Switzerland likes the dirt
It was loud, dirty and hot at the MXGP of Switzerland. The world’s best MX pilots were guests in Frauenfeld, main city of the canton of Thurgau nearby Lake Constance during the weekend of 18 & 19 August 2018. In front of 30’000 spectators, the athletes delivered a fantastic show at the temporarily built up Schweizer Zucker track. Infrastructure and organisation of the MXGP of Switzerland belong to the best within the whole MX World Championships calendar.
Due to the though Swiss regulations concerning motorsports, motorcycle racing is only possible on dirt tracks. Despite a few opponents, the organizers arranged a perfectly organized mega-event including exciting racing atmosphere and the program offered to the audience was very diverse.
As Presenting Partner of the MXGP of Switzerland, iXS has been strongly engaged and supported the organizers in its plans wherever possible. The successful event showed impressively that in fact motorsports is highly popular in Switzerland. Operating on the spot in the role of the Presenting Partner of the MXGP of Switzerland, iXS presented itself as a sporty and innovative Swiss brand to the public.
Seewer show with drama
Big local hero at the MXGP of Switzerland was Swiss pilot Jeremy Seewer. For the first time he could start in the premier class of motocross MXGP. For his race on home territory, Jeremy Seewer designed a uniquely special outfit and appeared for the fans in an original, typically Swiss racing dress. Jeremy created his own personal SCHÄRESCHNITT design - a folkloric paper cut pattern. Swiss paper cutting craft combines tradition and innovation – two familiar themes in Jeremy's career.
iXS was producing the Jeremy Seewer SCHÄRESCHNITT jersey in a limited run of 91 authentic pieces. The shirts are individually numbered and were offered to fans together with a certificate hand-signed by Jeremy for 91 Swiss Francs. Jeremy has been competing with the start number 91 since the beginning of his career. The demand for the SCHÄRESCHNITT shirts was enormous. Already three hours before the official launch fans were waiting and a long queue formed at the iXS booth.
Jeremy Seewer made up the top-ten in the Grand Prix overall classification. In the opening race of the weekend Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP's hometown hero Jeremy Seewer bought the Swiss fans to their feet with a hard charge for fifth. It was his fourth top-five race finish this season.
In the final race of the weekend, Seewer had the fans out of their seats as he stormed forward from outside of the top-ten and up into seventh-place before a small technical issue saw him drop outside of the top-twenty and the points, on lap-five. Seewer refused to give up despite the issue, and somehow managed to claw back to sixteenth place which was enough for tenth overall.
