Switzerland’s Rico Peter led his 4-person bobsled team to the top of the podium over the weekend at the BMW IBSF World Cup in Lake Placid, New York.

Peter and his team of brakemen (Janne Bror van der Zijde/Simon Friedli/Thomas Amrhein) beat out the US team that won gold at the 2010 Olympics.

The Swiss team finished in 1 minute, 48.31 seconds, with the US team finishing at 1:48.70 for second place, and the Canadian team coming in third with 1:48.71.

Peter and his team had the fastest sled in both timed heats.

After the second of eight races, Rico Peter (SUI, 435 points) leads the overall standings in the 2016/2017 BMW IBSF World Cup, followed by Steven Holcomb (USA, 402 points) and Alexander Kasjonov (RUS, 385 points).
